Is ground beef paleo?Short Answer:

Yes, ground beef is Paleo, but..

Lean meats are always the best!

As we wrote on our previous post, beef is Paleo as long as it is grass-fed and finished. There are many nutritional benefits with eating grass-fed beef such as higher Omega 3 and 6 contents, lower fat and calories, antioxidants, higher vitamin B and Conjugated Linoleic acid (CLA) which is thought to protect from having diabetes, heart diseases and cancer.

Ground beef is a always a great way to include to your Paleo diet as it is nutritious and affordable. Just make sure to get the leanest ground beef possible. We mentioned in our last post too that lean meats came from the parts which mostly do the jobs. This means you can look for ground round, which is the leanest. Next is ground sirloin, ground chuck, then the regular ground beef.

What experts say about Beef.. Is it Paleo?

“Eat beef, first and foremost. Get the highest quality beef you can afford, whether that ends up being premium grass-finished from the farm up the road or USDA Prime from Costco. Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good. Man cannot live on wild caught canned sardines and crushing angst alone.” – Mark Sisson

“What’s more, eating lean beef, veal, pork, and poultry can be part of a reasonable weight management program that also includes generous amounts of fresh fruits and vegetables”. – Dr. Loren Cordain
